EXAM CONGRATULATIONS
It is with great pleasure that I announce that three students from Sri Garden International scored the top mark in Malaysia for their IGCSE exams at the end of last year. This is a terrific achievement especially in our first year of sitting the IGCSE examinations.
Ellen Lee Jia Li for Art and Design
Ting Shu Jie for First language English
Geraldine Sin Mae Han for English Literature
These students have shown excellence by coming out better than all the other candidates in Malaysia, in these subjects. This wouldn't have been possible without their hard work and diligence, and of course the support of their teachers. Obviously these students are no longer at the school as they have graduated to courses elsewhere but we can still take time to recognise their achievements. They achieved something unique, not just the top grade but the top mark in the country!
CHANGES IN THE UK
The UK government has proposed reforms to GCSE from 2015. The proposed changes to UK GCSEs do not affect Cambridge IGCSE. In fact, the proposals - designed to make GCSE better preparation for A Level by asking more in-depth questions and putting an end to the assessment of bite-sized modules - come closer to the approach taken by Cambridge IGCSE.
CIE ENGLISH APPROVED FOR UK IMMIGRATION PURPOSES
Cambridge IGCSE English First Language (syllabus 0500 and 0522) and Cambridge IGCSE English Second Language (syllabus 0510 and 0511) are now included on the UKBA's approved list of Secure English Language Tests (SELTs). Some UK universities require students to provide a Secure English Language Test from the UKBA's approved list as part of their English language requirements policy.
