I seem to say this a lot in newsletters, but.."What a busy week we have had!"
You will see reference in the different section pages, to activities ranging from a MPH book fair, "Born to Perform", Students in Kyoto Japan, Trips to Chocolate factories, sporting triumphs, and of course some lessons.
Visit from Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera
We were privileged to host nearly 50 students and 6 teachers from Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera on Tuesday morning. Many people reading this will probably not be able to read the name, and certainly will not be able to identify where they are from.
This is a Welsh medium school, from South Wales, near Swansea (the Swansea football team are playing in the Premier league next season, so you might find them on the map). Our students were intrigued to hear that not everyone in the UK uses English as a first language, and that these students had all their lessons in the Welsh language!
Wales is known as the "country of song", and these students did their country proud by giving us a performance to highlight the dance, language and songs of Wales, together with some impressive photographs of Wales. At times it was difficult to remember that these performers were only teenagers, as their singing and professional demeanor was that of a much older person. The introductions were in Welsh and English.

They tried to teach us some Welsh - "Bore Da" means good morning, and "Croeso y Cymru" means welcome to Wales.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience the culture, language and passion of a proud part of the UK, that they had probably not thought of before. At the end they invited us all "When we come to the UK, please go west and visit Wales"

Nurse and 'sick bay'
Many people ask who our nurse is, and now we are able to point her out more easily!
Ms Sheila has her new blue uniform, so that students and parents can identify her. She can be found in her room near to the Principal Office. Parents who have children with any special health needs or requirements are welcome to come in and discuss these with Ms Sheila
